JON THORNE
bio//
British double bassist and producer Jon Thorne first emerged in the late '90s lending his distinctive sound to electronica outfit Lamb. He has since shared a stage and recorded with acts as diverse as Robert Plant, Charlotte Church, Laura Mvula, Donovan, Jesca Hoop, Eska, Kathryn Williams, Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage and Justin Sullivan.
He appears on the Grammy nominated album Singularity by Jon Hopkins.
He is currently a member of the bands Mother Sky, Makushin, Mixed Messages, Triangulum, The Hanging Baskets and is recording and touring with Polly Paulusma. He plays with both the Medina and Gurnard Community Choirs led by Hannah Brear.
Yorkston/Thorne/Khan have recorded a series of well-received albums for Domino Records.
A consummate sideman and collaborator, he has also written and released three albums, Manchester Road, Watching the Well featuring his mentor Danny Thompson and Homestead.
Jon features extensively on the 2024 movie soundtrack to "No Way Up."
